Splendid Settings: The Art + Craft of Entertaining is a personal story that combines the world of cooking and dining with the world of art, craft, and design. It features what the author considers to be her most interesting and imaginative ideas for setting tables, using her personal collections of contemporary handmade dinnerware. It also features menus and recipes that are particular to the four seasons and the way she and her husband, Leonard, love to entertain.
Splendid Settings is presented in four sections that are based on seasonal entertaining at the Kormans’ homes: spring and fall in the countryside not far from Philadelphia, summer at their beach house on the New Jersey coast, and winter amidst the sunshine and tropical palm trees at their retreat in Florida.
Jane Korman’s goal is to inspire others to create their own innovative table settings for lovely dinner parties, based on what they enjoy or collect. She believes that “a beautiful table setting will always be appreciated by guests and contribute to the pleasure of even the simplest meal.”
